The National Birth Defects
Prevention Network (NBDPN) is holding its 9th annual meeting in
Arlington, VA. Come hear the latest activities of the NBDPN and
get updates on birth defects research, surveillance, and prevention
activities!
The registration fee for the meeting is $150.00
with a registration deadline of January 4, 2006. The GIS Hands-on
Training is an additional $50.00. The on-site pre-registration will
be from 5:00-8:00PM on January 29, 2006, and registration will start
at 7:30AM on January 30, 2006.

HANDS-ON TRAINING SEMINAR:
GIS APPLICATIONS IN BIRTH DEFECTS
SURVEILLANCE AND RESEARCH
NBDPN will host a hands-on training seminar on
geographic information systems (GIS) on Sunday, January 29th.
This seminar will focus on techniques for integrating birth defects
data with statistical data from other sources (ie Census), examining
methods for exploratory data analysis, and illustrating the use
of analytical tools and GIS enhancements. Sample data sets
will be derived from actual data, using spatial masking procedures
to ensure privacy. Basic knowledge of ArcView is required.
The registration fee for this training is $50.00.
POSTER AND EXHIBIT RECEPTION
The Poster and Exhibit Session Reception will
be held from 5:30-7:00PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Posters will
be available for viewing during the entire meeting.
